Whitford/St. Holmes, the recently reunited band led by Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and longtime Ted Nugent singer Derek St. Holmes, releases its second studio album, Reunion, on Friday, June 3, and heads out on a U.S. tour the same day. As previously reported, the veteran rockers will be hitting the road with Whitesnake, and also have a number of headlining gigs lined up.
The band has announced that Brent Fitz of Slash‘s backing group Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators will be filling in for drummer Troy Luccketta during the tour, since Luccketta has prior road commitments with his main gig, Tesla.
“We are very excited to have Brent join us on this run,” says Whitford. “Troy is so good, he is just not an easy guy to replace!”
Adds Fitz, “I was already excited for the new Whitford/St.Holmes reunion record. So, it goes without saying how thrilled I was to get a call from Derek and Brad asking me to step in on drums for the upcoming tour.”
Whitford/St. Holmes has added several headlining shows to its itinerary, most of which will take place on off nights during the Whitesnake tour. In addition, the band will play a joint gig with Cinderella‘s Tom Keifer on June 9 in Traverse City, Michigan, and will open for Lynyrd Skynyrd on July 30 in Elgin, Illinois.
Whitford and St. Holmes originally teamed up in the early ’80s during a period where Brad had temporarily left Aerosmith. The group’s initial run yielded one studio album, a self-titled effort released in 1981. The two rockers rekindled their collaboration recently after both moved to the Nashville area.
Fans pre-ordering Reunion on iTunes also will receive a free download of the Whitford/St. Holmes album.
