Good news to report about Yoko Ono: Sean Ono Lennon, her son with the late John Lennon, revealed in a Twitter message that his mother returned home over the weekend after being hospitalized Friday in New York City.
“Thanks again for everyone’s concern,” Sean tweeted on Saturday. “She’s home and running about as usual. Just the flu in the end. I may go get a flu shot now…”
When the news Yoko’s hospitalization first emerged, some media sources reported that she’d had a stroke, which her longtime rep, Elliott Mintz, denied.
Mintz told ABC News on Friday that reports of a stroke were “not accurate,” and added, “To the best of my knowledge, she had symptoms along the lines of a serious flu, and her doctor thought it was best that she would get a check-up at the hospital, and she is being checked for that.”
He also said, “There is no stroke and there are no life-threatening circumstances as has been described to me.”
That same day, Sean Lennon tweeted, “Only stroke @yokoono had was a Stroke of Genius! 🙂 She’s really fine. Thanks for all the well wishes! Big Love, Sean.”
Yoko just turned 83 on February 18. She released a new album, Yes, I’m a Witch Too, the day after her birthday. It features remixes from and collaborations with Moby, Sparks, Death Cab for Cutie, Peter Bjorn and John, Portugal. The Man and more.
